Mrs. Stanley - Reading
Ms. VanMeter - ELA
Ms. Nelson - Math
Class Rules - Display Integrity, Exhibit Control, Positive Attitude, Open to New Ideas (In this class ICAN)
Class Procedures - students should get homework out to be graded or look to the board for instructions, I also greet them at the door and let them know what the expectations are upon entering. We always write in pencil, no playing of iPad games. If there is time after everything is completed, they should work on BuzzMath, Prodigy, or Mental Math Card
Late Work - this is handled on more of a case by case basis, but students will have the assignment marked missing and receive a score of 0 in the grade book until it is turned in or their individual time frame has expired.
Typical Homework - Students typically receive 10-15 problems per night Mon-Thurs. Homework is avoided on Fridays unless it can’t be helped
Ms. Skinner - Social Studies
No food, drink, candy, or gum should be brought into our class unless approved by the teacher. No evidence of gum should be seen. Cell phones or any electronic devices (aside from the iPad) are not to be on, used, or displayed in the classroom unless you have received explicit permission from me. If a cell phone is out and being used I will confiscate it and turn it in to the office. No sleeping or heads down on the desk. (If I can’t nap, you can’t either.) Do not leave the classroom without permission unless there is an emergency. See handbook for dress code.
Be on time to class! This means in your seat when the bell rings. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each class period. Be sure you have all materials ready to go before you sit down. If you have three tardies to my class I will contact your parents and we will have a meeting. More than three tardies will result in an office referral. We start each class period with bellwork. That means when you walk in class you have a quick assignment to begin. Bellwork starts the second you walk in the classroom, NOT 2-3 minutes after class begins. Passes to leave the room will be limited. Before you ask for a pass think of these three things: Were you on time? Is it an appropriate time to ask? Have you completed your assignments? Students will be dismissed from class by the teacher, not the bell.
In order to receive full credit for a homework assignment, it must be complete. Failure to turn in an assignment when it is due will result in lunch detention with me until it is done. Students who continually do not complete their homework will receive a phone call home and conference with me. Do your own work, copying will not be tolerated. Late work will be accepted for half credit. Once I have graded and returned an assignment, you cannot turn that assignment in for credit unless you have been absent.
You will have one day to make up your work, if it is not received within that time frame, it will be considered late work.
It is extremely important that you keep track of your notes every day.
Ms. Maddack - ELA
Class Rules -Let the teacher teach, let your classmates learn, respect yourself as a person-student-writer, and ask questions to help you learn: no unnecessary questions. We raise our hands and quietly wait to be called on, we throw away trash/get a tissue without talking to anyone on the way.
Class Procedures - Come in, sit down, start bellwork (always written on the board), pay attention when class starts.
Late Work -I accept late work until three days before the end of the grading period.
Extra Credit -Since I accept late work with no point reductions, I don't offer extra credit: students can get their grade up by redo-ing/turning in their work.
Typical Homework - I do not assign homework: whatever is not finished during class work time becomes homework.

Mrs. Ahler - History
Class Rules -My rules are an acronym for LEARN: Listen, Enter and Exit Prepared, Always Try, Respect, and No Electronics. Kids aren't allowed to eat or chew gum in my class.
Class Procedures - Come in, turn in work, bell ringer, etc My students SHOULD enter the class quietly, work on their Bell-ringer, turn in work, ask me questions, and all of this is done with little to no talking. My students are tardy if they are not in their seats by the time he bell rings.
Late Work -I take 10% off ANY assignment each day it's late. I allow my students to retake and redo assignments. They have specific forms to fill out as well. Retake sheets must be signed by a parent/guardian Redo forms simply have the student explain what they fixed and why the assignment didn't go well the first time.
Typical Homework - I don't give homework. Any assignment that is not complete in class MUST be turned in the following class period (unless noted by me) I give about one assignment per class period that I take for a grade and they get 25 points for their Bell-ringer.
